Silly Me, Forgot a title!! How About World Diabetes Day

WOW!! Can you believe we are nearly half way through November? While your digesting that news, how bout thinking about it this way; it a little over a month we will be saying good-bye to 2016!!!

Crazy, right?

We will be ringing in 2017 in no time at all and of course a new year means new resolutions to make and break.

If you go to Time.com, they will tell you the top resolutions for 2016 were

  • Enjoy life to the fullest
  • Live a healthier lifestyle
  • Lose weight
  • Save more, spend less
  • Spend more time with family and friends
  • Pay down debt

Did you know 37% o f resolutions made are about staying fit and healthy?

We want to be fit and healthy and yet we rarely make it to our goals that are resolutions. As a matter of fact only 8% of actually realize our resolutions according to Nielsen.com.

Why are we talking about this? Well, because  there’s something going on today that is very important and goes along with the healthy and fit lifestyle everyone’s longing to have and do.

You see today is World Diabetes Day.

Now, you may be asking yourself how diabetes ties in with talking about health and fitness.

Simple. Health and fitness can help control diabetes and may even prevent you from going there in the first place. There is a genetic component to diabetes but diet (the foods you eat) and exercise can play a HUGE part of keeping your symptoms under control.

This terrible disease runs in my family; my grandparents on both sides had it, my dad had it, my mama has it, so so as you can imagine I’m a huge supporter of campaigns that work on finding better solutions to diabetes.

In honor of today  I’d like to share an app and some information that the foundation has been using.

The app is a simply blue ring. You can find it HERE or by searching WDD Selfie App, I did and I love it! I didn’t get all fancy but you could!

I also wanted to show you how diet and fitness tie into helping prevent diabetes, with an infographic from the foundations page.

  2. Hello there – yes – what a terrible disease this is. Spent some time visiting someone on the Diabetes ward at our local hospital and saw the full horror of what it can do. Haven’t been to your blog lately – I apologise, my life is very full with family responsibilities as my parents become more and more dependent. I really love your new-look blog since I last visited. Very classy!
