Learning to Pray: 9 How to’s from the Bible
Today, we’re going to see what the Bible has to say about how to pray.
Today, we’re going to see what the Bible has to say about how to pray.
How empowering was it to learn in post 1, that prayer is so many things? I know it helped me better understand that even though God is omniscient, my prayers show him I long for and want a relationship with him.
Well, hold on to your hats, because today we’re going to learn just how prayer is all of the things we’ve already learned and a WHOLE LOT MORE!
Scripture gives many examples of what prayer is.For the month of September, I am sharing with everyone what I’ve learned about prayer and praying. In the last post, I shared what the Bible says about prayer.
One of the greatest things in the Bible, to me, is when one of the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. The lesson and the teaching still hold true. Come, let’s learn about prayer
So, on one of the nights when I was doing my Bible study, I realized I had pages and pages of notes on prayer, eight pages to be exact. Suddenly, you know how those ah-ha moments go, I’m thinking, DUH!, write about praying and prayer. Heck, make it a series for the whole month of September.
And that, my friends is what we’re going to be exploring all month.
Some think I’m crazy. Maybe I am. As an autumn baby (although not a September baby), my favorite season has always been fall and September begins the journey. September isn’t as spectacular as October and doesn’t hold the thankfulness of November, but in it’s own right, September has a special place. Some month had to go first in fall and September got the spot.
I believe we go through things for a reason. I believe that somewhere along our lifeline, God will use our story to encourage, lift up, change, or help someone. The only way that can happen is if we have the courage to share our story. Is it painful to relive it as we tell it? You better believe it is. Think about this, if you don’t share how will anyone know you have empathy for what they are going through?
Suddenly, it’s the end of the day, the kids are in bed, the phone is charging and on silent, the husband has been fed and is on his way to bed, the TV is off, and I’m left all alone. Ahhhh that golden moment when alas, all is quiet.
Ahhhh that golden moment when alas, all is quiet.
Silence is golden.
The tradition I cherish most is the time we spend as a family reading out loud to each other.
I thought to myself I cannot be the only blogger on this planet that goes through this. Nor can I be the only one who wonders if there are others who go through this.
So I’m sure you’ll never guess what I’m going to write about today. 😉
Yep, you guessed it, What to do when you’ve got nothing to write about
