The Dot – A start to leaving your mark

It all started with a DOT. Yep, a simple little dot.

Not very inspiring, a dot. Not anything big, a dot. Only a dot.

That little dot inspired so much. Created something we all need to find.

Our inner creativity; the courage from inside; a confidence we may not have recognized within ourselves.

That dot became inspiration for an international movement.

International Dot Day

Ever thought to yourself; ” I just don’t matter” I cannot affect the world, I’m nobody important.” ” I can’t do anything about that.” “I don’t make a difference”

I think many of us have experienced something along those lines.

The feeling of not being important; not feeling as if we can make a difference; not feeling like we have anything to contribute.

Well today is the day!

The day I begin to make a difference. I may not have big things to contribute, but what I can do is start, doesn’t have to be big, loud, profound.

Today is the day I start ‘making my mark’.

I’m going to leave my dot on the world and maybe, just maybe, it will grow into something bigger than myself.

This is the story that inspired something bigger! Something greater than what I think I can do.

The Dot by Peter H Reynolds (2003) is a story which is about inspiring others to leave their mark.

The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe. www.thedotclub.org

Whether your mark is a dot, a dash, a line, a word, a sentence, a hug, or something else, make your mark.

You never know where leaving your mark might make a difference. Who may see your mark and be inspired to leave theirs.

How does that saying go?

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step

Take a first step and leave your mark.

I’m going to make my mark and frame it, just like in the story. Nothing big, nothing prolific, quite simply my mark. I don’t know where it will lead me or how it may inspire someone else. All I know is I’m going to find my courage, my inner strength, my confidence and start.

I challenge you, today, right now, MAKE YOUR MARK!

The world needs you and you have something to offer no matter what you may believe. Seek your inner courage, strength and confidence.

YOU and YOUR MARK MATTER!!
